UPDATED SCHEDULE

8/23/2024-

The Contractor needs to move their large backhoe offsite so there is a slight change of plans with the schedule for installing pipe this week and next week. They were initially planning on constructing all utilities one block at a time but starting today, Thuesday, August 22, the following schedule can be anticipated:

• Finish installing all the sanitary sewer up to 11th St N. This work is anticipated to be complete next Tuesday (8/27) or Wednesday (8/28)
• Once the sanitary sewer is complete (anticipated Wednesday 8/28) they will then move back to installing sewer and water services to homes between 8th St and 9th St.
• This work should go through to the end of next week. Should they finish services before Friday (8/30) the Contractor may begin on watermain between 9th St and 10th St.
• On Friday, 8/23, the contractor will be paving wear course within the roundabout. Next week there will be seeding at the roundabout as well as installation of signage and temporary lighting. We are still on schedule for having the roundabout open for school traffic. 

Please note that there will be individual access restrictions to properties while the Contractor is installing utilities in front of your home. These access restrictions will continue during working hours; unless the contractor specifically makes arrangements with you, you should expect to have access open overnight.

There have been times that weather or material availability have caused a slight change in plans. We will attempt to keep property owners notified of these changes as soon as we are able. We apologize if a change in schedule has affected negatively in any way. We appreciate your patience; we are currently ahead of schedule and anticipate having the utilities complete in early September.  

UPCOMING WORK
In addition to sanitary sewer and watermain installation, the Contractor has storm sewer that will need to be installed as well. They will be intermittently installing as they work through each block. This may or may not happen before the services go in; this is due to the depth of the pipe. The deeper pipe will go in first so that the Contractor doesn’t have to dig beneath new pipe.

8/16/2024 - 

UPDATED SCHEDULE

• Monday, August 19: Contractor will begin the installation of sanitary sewer in the street between 8th and 9th Street. They will then follow with the watermain, storm sewer, and then services to each property. It will take about a week and a half to complete all the utilities on this block.
• August 19-23: Contractor will be finishing the concrete work in and around the roundabout. Additionally, they will be placing topsoil and restoring the area behind the curb.
• Friday, August 23: The final layer of bituminous pavement is scheduled for placement within the roundabout.

UPCOMING WORK

• The Contractor is working one block at a time. Once the block between 8th and 9th Street is complete, crews will move north to the next block.
• We anticipate that once the block of 8th and 9th Street is complete, a crew will be onsite to start constructing the roadway between Rum River Drive and 9th Street, simultaneous to the utility work going on within the remaining blocks to the north.

• The replacement of the existing watermain does include some properties be placed on a temporary water system. This includes connecting a temporary water system to an existing hydrant and running temporary lines to each property impacted. If a hydrant in your yard is impacted by this, please know that this work is temporary and is required for maintaining potable water to residents during construction. 
• Construction for this project will also include impacts to lawns and driveways. At the end of the project, driveways will be repaired and lawns will be restored.
• Concrete work will begin. In order for the concrete to be installed correctly, it cannot be driven on for the first week. Homes affected by the curb install will be notified by the project inspector and a plan will be discussed to maintain access.

UPDATED SCHEDULE

• Monday, August 12 - Installation of sanitary sewer, water main, and storm sewer will continue between 8th Street and 9th Street. Water and sewer services for houses between Rum River Drive and 8th Street will be permanently reconnected.
• Monday, August 12-The final grading of the roundabout at 12th Street and 7th Avenue will continue.
• Tuesday, August 13- Asphalt paving of Rum River Drive and 7th Avenue south of Rum River Drive beigns. Please take caution as Rum River Drive traffic will be controlled by flaggers from both ends.
• Thursday, August 15- Paving of the roundabout at 12th Street and 7th Avenue tentatively scheduled to begin.

UPCOMING WORK

Week of August 19 - We anticipate work to include placing topsoil and restoring yards in front of houses in the area of the new roundabout.

UPDATED SCHEDULE

• Rum River Drive will reopen on Friday, August 2. The road will be gravel, please use caution when driving.
• Starting Monday, August 5: Installation of sanitary sewer, water main, and storm sewer will continue from north of Rum River Drive going up to 8th Street. This work will take all week to complete.
• Starting Monday, August 5: Concrete curb, driveways, and sidewalk will be placed at the intersection of 12th Street and 7th Avenue.This will continue all week.

UPCOMING WORK
Week of August 13: We anticipate work to include paving the first layer of asphalt in the intersection of 7th Avenue and 12th Street. Sanitary sewer, water main, and storm sewer work is anticipated to continue between 8th Street and 9th Street.

7/29/2024 - Updated schedule for the 7th Ave Reconstruction Project

• Monday, July 29th - Rum River Drive intersection at 7th Ave N will be closed for utility work. The closure will remain in place ALL WEEK as the contractor has to replace the sanitary sewer, watermain and storm sewer through the intersection.
• On Monday morning, the contractor will be installing gate valves in order to isolate the watermain that is being removed and replaced. There will be a water shut off for certain properties – you should have received notice if your water will be temporarily shut off.
• Work in this intersection will take all week – the contractor should be done by Friday, but work may carry into Saturday.
• Other work for next week includes the grading for the roundabout at 7th Ave N/12th St N.

UPCOMING WORK: WEEK OF AUGUST 5
We anticipate work this week to include curb installation at the roundabout as well as beginning the installation of sanitary sewer and watermain from Rum River Drive to 8th Street N.

7/19/2024- 

Work Completed This Week

• Installation of watermain on 7th Ave from 11th Street to 12th Street, as well as the sewer and water connections on 12th Street (both east and west of 7th Ave)
• Installation of sanitary sewer and water services for homes between 11th Street and 12th Street
• Homes between 11th Street and 12th Street have been removed from temporary water and are now on the new water system
• Temporary water is being set up at the south end of 7th Ave in preparation for future water connections in the upcoming weeks
• Contractor began installing storm sewer from 11th Street north to the proposed roundabout. They completed about half of the required storm sewer within the roundabout and will complete this work next week

Work Anticipated for the Week of July 22

• Monday 7/22 – Temporary closure on Rum River Drive in order to remove the existing pavement. This is in anticipation of future sanitary sewer, watermain and storm sewer crossing under Rum River Drive. The closure should only last a few hours. The contractor will also be completing the storm sewer in the proposed roundabout at 12th Street.
• Tuesday 7/23 – Contractor will be doing removals, including removing existing pavement, from Rum River Dr to 9th Street. They will also be completing additional storm sewer work at the roundabout.
• Wednesday 7/23 – Storm sewer will be installed south of Rum River Drive, from the river to Rum River Drive. Due to the depth of the storm sewer, we anticipate this work to continue into Thursday 7/24
• Additional work this week for 7th Ave (north of Rum River Drive) will include setting up the temporary water so its ready when utility work starts in the coming weeks.
• The contractor will begin constructing the roundabout at 12th Street.

Look Ahead for Week of July 29
The week of July 29, we are anticipating a full closure of the intersection at Rum River Drive and 7th Avenue.  Utility crossings for sanitary sewer, watermain, and storm sewer that need to be placed in this intersection. We are anticipating the entire week for closure. 

7/12/2024-

Updated construction schedule:
Friday 7/12 – Contractor is reworking the soils in and around the intersection of 7th Ave N and 12th St N to meet the compaction requirements. They are also testing the watermain to check for leaks.
Monday 7/15 – Work will be focused on installing the sanitary sewer service to the Intermediate School as well as working on soil compaction at the intersection.
Tuesday and Wednesday (7/16 and 7/17) – Sanitary and water services will be installed and connected to the properties on 7th Ave N, between 11th St N and 12th St N. Once these connections are made, the homes will be taken off of temporary sewer and water and services to these homes will be considered live.
Thursday and Friday (7/18 and 7/19) – Contractor will begin the storm sewer at the roundabout, some storm pipe will continue down 7th Ave N, generally on the east side of the road. Depending on the delivery of the storm sewer materials, this work may start as early as Wednesday.

UPCOMING WORK:
Once the storm sewer is completed at the intersection of 7th Ave N/ 12th St N, the contractor will begin grading the street for the roundabout construction.
Once this occurs, the pipe crew will move to the south end of the project to install sanitary sewer, watermain and storm sewer, and will work from south to north to connect at 11th Street. 

Please take note that this work will include 2 separate road closures at Rum River Dr/7th Ave N.
The first closure is anticipated for July 22nd and will only be for a few hours while the street pavement is removed, the second closure will be close to a week while the utility crossings take place. Further information will be provided as the schedule is determined. 

7/8/2024 -

Construction this week will continue on 7th Ave and will take place mostly between 11th Street and 12th Street.
Last week, the installation of sanitary sewer did not go as quickly as anticipated. Today, July 8, crews will be finishing the sewer installation on 12th Street in front of the school.
Starting Tuesday, July 9, the contractor will be starting on the water main installation on 7th Ave. They will start down at 11th Street and moving north towards 12th Street. They will be working in the same order as the sewer installation. This work will take up the better part of the week, and access to this area will remain closed to traffic.
Looking ahead, work will include the storm sewer installation in the roundabout, followed by the excavation of dirt and hauling in of gravel to begin the street construction. We are still on schedule to have the roundabout opened to traffic before school starts. More detailed information on this schedule will be provided as the project progresses.

6/28/2024 - 
This week the contractor completed the installation of new sanitary sewer on 7th Ave N from 11th Street to 12th Street N. Trenches will be closed up for the weekend and the roads should be passable.
Next week will be a three-day work week. No construction will take place on July 4-5.
On Monday, July 1, the contractor will be installing sanitary sewer on 12th Street N. They will start with the sewer to the east of 7th Ave N (in front of the school), and then will move to the west side 7th Ave N and install sewer just past the first driveway on the south side.
They will finish up on Wednesday, July 3, and close all trenches for the long weekend. 
Due to the depth of the sewer, there will be no access to thru traffic at the 7th Ave N and 12th Street intersection.

6/20/2024 - Next week's construction activity is as follows:

• Today (June 20), a bank of temporary mailboxes was placed on 6th Avenue N between 11th Street N and 12th Street N. Residents whose mailboxes are currently impacted by construction have been notified of the temporary location where they are to be pick up mail until further notice.
• Friday (June 21) is trash collection day for most. Continue to put your trash can down at the end of the driveway and the contractor will assist in getting it where it needs to be should access be blocked during pick up. We ask that residents put their house number on the can using duct tape so that we can assure the can is returned to the correct address.
• Starting Monday (June 22), the contractor will be installing a watermain isolation gate valves in three different locations which will result in a temporary water shut off for approximately 2 hours. Residents who are impacted by the water shut off should have received notice today via a door hanger.
• On Tuesday (June 23), the contractor will begin installing the deep sanitary sewer, and will be starting at the intersection of 11th St N/ 7th Ave N and will be moving north towards 12th Access between 11th St and 12th St will be completely closed down. If you have a driveway on 7th Ave between 11th St and 12th St, please have your vehicle out before 7AM.

6/14/2024 -
The intersection of 7th Ave N and 12th Street N will be closed for construction starting Monday June 17th. Work will begin with general removals.
Starting the week of June 24th, select homes will be put on temporary water as utility work starts. Property owners will be notified prior to being connected to temporary water. This work will include some temporary water shut offs while connections are made.
Additionally, the contactor is working with the post office to determine the placement of temporary mailboxes. Property owners who will receive mail at a temporary mailbox location will be notified prior to this taking place.
