Reporting a Crime
There are several ways in which one can report a crime that either has happened or is happening.
- If the crime is in progress: Dial 9-1-1
- If the crime has already happened but it is serious in nature: Dial 9-1-1
- If the crime has been committed and there is no immediate threat: Dial 1-888-860-8250 (Mille Lacs County Dispatch)
- If it is during normal business hours and you wish to speak to an officer, or you would like to leave a voicemail message for an officer: Dial 763-389-4879
When reporting a crime to
9-1-1 please give all information which you are able to gather. For example: age, height, weight, clothing of subject; color, make, model, direction of travel of vehicle.
Rewards
There are special cases which warrant the issuance of a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the offender. If you have any information regarding a crime that you may feel fits these circumstances, please call the PD at 763-389-4879. All information will be handled as discretely as possible.

No one expects to be a victim of a crime. But, unfortunately it happens. If you or someone close to you is affected by a crime, you may feel shocked, angered, shamed or even helpless and confused. Remember that cooperation and reporting from the public helps law enforcement in investigating crimes that take place in the community.
Victim & Witness Bill of Rights
As a victim or witness to a crime, you have the right to…
- be treated with fairness and respect for your dignity and privacy.
- be reasonably protected from the accused offender.
- be notified of court proceedings.
- be present at all public court proceedings related to the offense, unless the court determines otherwise.
- confer with an attorney for the Government in the case.
- available restitution.
- information about the conviction, sentencing, imprisonment, and release of the offender.
